Seasonic Issues Warning: FOCUS PLUS PSU has GPU Compatibility Issues

Here's something you do not see that often, Seasonic confirmed that their FOCUS PLUS power supplies can have issues with certain graphics cards resulting in black screens under GPU stress, the issue seems related to high ripple under GPU load.

The solution is quite simple though, some modified PCIe cables with enhanced shielding make the problem go away":

-- Seasonic --

FOCUS PLUS and GPU potential compatibility issues

We have been notified, in limited instances, where some issues may occur when a FOCUS power supply is used in conjunction with certain high power consumption GPU or brand of VGA cards. If you experience possible compatibility issues, please check the below information and contact us for further assistance:

FOCUS PLUS & ASUS GTX970 STRIX: In very limited instances black screen may occur under heavy VGA usage. Current testing showed that certain VGA cards may emit higher than normal ripple when under heavy load and using a modified PCIe cables with enhanced shielding resolved the issue.

FOCUS PLUS & Vega 56/64: For units with serial numbers before January 2018, in rare instances, possible system shutdown may occur when GPU is under heavy load. This is possibly caused by higher than normal peak current emitted by this particular range of GPU's when under heavy load triggering the PSU’s internal protection safety.

Huh, I actually have a Seasonic Focus Plus Platinum (650W). Well, I own neither a 970 STRIX, nor any of the two AMD cards. Still, this isn't good to hear. I bought this PSU because of glowing reviews, and it has performed admirably. Thankfully it has a 10 year warranty, and these issues should be covered by it.

And that's most you can do: Do your research and cover yourself with the longest possible warranty.

Focus Plus was on my radar. Because of the fanless mode and the overall quality.
Went for HX750i because of C-Link... I think

Do your research...haha. What usually follows is:

Bought a Focus Plus for my Ryzen 2400G HTPC build. Didn't work at all. Have to RMA it I guess.
Anecdotally, my old Seasonic worked flawlessly, it's just some 5 years old, hence I wanted to replace it.

long period warranty still bad if RMA service is poor
so imo get one with good RMA service

luckily in my place corsair and seasonic have good RMA service, and as their not far from my area, i can drive to distributor/RMA service, and get replaced almost instantly
other brands that available not as good as them in RMA process

incase like this (compability issue) i bet i can discuss for model change or upgrade (i have to pay for upgrade though)

I have Sesonic Platinum 860W SS-860XP and Today every time i opened a movie in fullscren in MPC + MADVR, my PC would reboot.
Doing 3D benchmark had no effect, using windows media also had no effect, I reset the MPC and now it works but Without MADVR .

It happened one time couple of days ago and a week ago it happened during opening web page tab.

I posted some posts but people says that 860w is good enough for 2080ti + 9900k plus 5 HDDS and otehr crap that I have like 480gb optane and 1tb nvme

EDIT: I opened my mouth too soon, after posting the initial message i opened furmark and got a reboot after 4 seconds
