Scalpers already offer Valve Steam Decks, for up to 5,000 dollars.

For Valve, Steam's Deck pre-sale was without question a success: demand in the first few hours was so great that Steam's servers were overwhelmed, there were so many customer reservations to the extent that fresh bookings are planned for the third quarter of 2022 only.

As with other high demand items, scalpers have their units also booked and will already sell their reserved consoles for delivery when they receive them in December. Steam Deck resale price on places like Ebay is as high as five thousand dollars for the 512GB model, thus scalpers are gaining a large profit from buyers.

Steam Deck is Valve's new portable console, which seeks to allow you to play all your favorite PC games wherever you go. It is based on a Zen 2 + RDNA2 APU, allowing the support of Ray-Tracing and variable Refresh Rate, for better graphic quality and higher performance. Although it will come with SteamOS pre-installed, we will be able to install Windows , basically transforming it into a laptop PC with a controller.

Worst part is that people will pay for it.

I think you'd need to be mad to even consider buying a scalped a 1st gen product (Even if it is likely to be highly polished). I've got a reservation for one but not even 100% sure i'll buy it when able.

I reckon plenty of people will not buy them in the end and there will be loads floating around.
