Rumor: Nvidia to use GTX 1070 and 1080 in laptops
And to spice up that rumor, they might not release a GTX 1070M and GTX 1080M in the process. The manufacturer would use the GPUs of the desktop versions of the GTX 1070 and 1080, as it previously did with the GTX 980.
The manufacturer would not have intentions to deliver are special M-variants of the high-end graphics cards towards laptops. The GTX 1070 and 1080 have TDP of 150W and 180W respectively, quite spicy for a laptop if you ask me. The first notebooks with these graphics cards should hit the market in August or September. To fit the GPUs they'll need an MXM board, MXM 3.0 Type B specification prescribes a maximum TDP of 100W and such Nvidia probably is going to use an external module or lower clocks and voltage significantly.
The GTX 1070 and 1080 are both built around the GP104 GPU. It is expected that MSI and Gigabyte Aorus will release gaming laptops with the 1070/1080 GPUs from Nvidia's. Nvidia might retained the M designation for less high-end GPUs for laptops likely the GP106 series.

Sounds like a good idea to me because of how successful the 980 was in laptops.

I've been wanting to get a laptop to compliment my PC for when I'm at lunch at work. I usually finish my food in like 15-20 so that gives me 40 minutes to game. Looking forward to getting a laptop with a 1070 in it.

At computex ASUS showed a 18" 4K, mechanical keyboard, liquid cooling with 660W of power... using 980 SLI.
Something is definitely up with the 1080M/1070M MIA.
