"you cannot see/mount an unpartitioned unit over USB, as such we can only run the HD Tune Pro random access read test."
Of course you can, here's how to do it

run "diskpart"
"list disk"
"select disk x" (where x is that usb drive number)
"clean"
"exit"
unplug usb drive
plug in usb drive
run HD Tune write tests
