We review the ASUS Z170 ROG Maximus VIII Assembly edition. An updated SKU based on the previous model, with some extras and tweaks. The ROG team took the DNA of the Maximus VIII Extreme and added even more. Though it lacks the OC Panel this puppy haz LEDs! Well, that and a 10Gbit/s Ethernet adapter card, 3-band AC WIFI and even a rather cool audio breakout box.

very nice review, but yes it would be nice to review the 10gig lan, to compare with pro 10gig board.

I am a bit confused concerning your comment on the storage part of the conclusion.
My question is,if it is better to have an M.2 ssd on the appropriate slot or get an adapter and put it on pci-e.
I happen to have the maximus extreme viii (not assembly) and i have a samsung 950 pro on the m.2 slot,but it feels kinda slow,although i have all the bios settings,the win driver and everything as it is supposed to be done.So i m thinking would it make any difference if i put it on pci slot with an adapter?

Nice looking board there indeed , but wow it has a high price tag for sure , more than double what i paid for my gigabyte z170x gaming 7

That would kinda require someone to donate 10 GigE equipment up for the task.

it should be more or less the same... BUT it depend:
-on the adapter (avoid cheap one

)
-on the motherboard that hold the M.2
-on the SSD (from my own experience samsung are not the fastest... for some it is really good)

so i think you would gain almost nothing doing this
