Qnap TS-x77 Series NAS Gets AMD Ryzen CPUs

Qnap has released NAS systems equipped with AMD Ryzen 6 and 8-core processors. The TS-x77 will see six, eight or twelve drives models. The units get up to 64GB of ddr4 as well as space for a graphics card.

The TS-x77 series includes models with AMD Ryzen 7 1700 (8-cores/16-threads) and AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (6-cores/12-threads) processors that support AES-NI encryption acceleration and up to 64 GB DDR4 RAM. Two M.2 SATA 6 GB/s SSD slots are provided for cache acceleration or high-performance storage pools. Every model in the series provides USB 3.1 Gen2 10Gbps Type-A and Type-C ports, and three PCIe slots for incredible expansion potential. Supported PCIe devices include a graphics card, 10GbE/40GbE NICs, PCIe NVMe SSD, USB 3.1 expansion cards, and QM2 cards (that add additional M.2 SSDs or 10GbE connectivity). Incorporating incredible performance, reliability and scalability, the TS-x77 series provides an exceptional storage solution for diverse business IT environments.

The TS-x77 series multi-threading advantages are especially suited for virtualization - in a LoginVSI test environment the TS-1277 is capable of running up to 16 virtual machines simultaneously. The TS-x77 is virtualization-ready for VMware®, Citrix®, Microsoft® Hyper-V® and Windows Server® 2012 R2 environments with the support of iSER (iSCSI Over RDMA). It can host virtual machines and containers as an efficient all-in-one server, and supports snapshots and virtual machine backups for all-in-one virtualization management. The TS-x77 will also support the upcoming Virtual QTS that enables users to run multiple virtual QTS systems on a single NAS, to provide resources segregation (CPU, memory, networking) benefits, flexible application deployment, and savings on energy, cost and space.

TS-x77 series supports RAID 50/60 to provide greater data protection and random write performance, striking a balance between capacity, protection and performance. The latest Qtier™ 2.0 adds IO Aware capabilities for SSD tiered storage to keep a cache-like reserved space to handle burst I/O in real time, maximizing the cost-to-performance value.

 Prices have not been revealed.

wow.
all of the hassle (minus the fun) of building your own overpowered NAS eliminated. the gpu slots are great additions for distributed 4k video and sound in a super sff.

as soon as my old Intel Q-6600 dies i can ditch the butt ugly silverstone milo case and rock n' roll.
