Nvidia might release GTX 980MX and 970MX for laptops

Nvidia is likely planning the successors to the 970M and 980M in the 2nd half of 2016. The successors will be the 980MX and 970MX and are based on GM204.

South Korean HW Battle reports this info, the 980MX will be based on Maxwell architecture and is based on 1664 shader processors where the 970M would get 1408 cores.

We've placed the info in a char for a better overview to compare to, have a peek:

Thats awesome provided the chips arent severely cut down in power.

Gaming laptops are really starting to become plausible for HD/Ultra settings/60fps gaming on the go and cost effective provided you stay away from DellXPS or Alienware.

This may be good news for AMD's Polaris if true.
GDDR5 only and if 28nm still...that may turn the scales.
AMD statement that they target the mobile market with there new "Energy efficient GPUs" make it plausible.
Radeon R9 Nano is now a match to it imagine after they tweak it or redesign like they did with Polaris architecture.
2016 starts good for the tech news hope it delivers in the end.
PS: Raja's statement for Nvidia's delay in adoption looks more realistic if this rumor is true.

I wonder what they will call the new pascal GPUs. They need a new numbering system again.

Releasing another Maxwell GPU? Where's Pascal? Shouldn't we be getting it about the same time?
