New Dell UP2718Q Monitor offers 4K and HDR10

Dell releases the UP2718Q monitor, it offers a A 27” 3840 x 2160 resolution with the all trendy trick for 2017, HDR. The UP2718Q is making use of an IPS panel (AHVA) at 6-hz, and thus offers support for HDR10.

The UP2718Q has a LED backlight with 384-dimming zones. In its HDR operating mode the monitor even comes with a specced 20:000:1 static contrast (1000:1 otherwise). The peak luminance is given as 400 cd/m² for normal operation and 1000 cd/m² in HDR.

The display doesn't fully cover the massive Rec. 2020 colour space, it does cover 76.9% of it. It also covers 100% Adobe RGB, 100% sRGB, 100% Rec. 709 and 97.7% DCI-P3. The screen comes factory calibrated for sRGB and Adobe RGB in separate presets with a specified DeltaE of under 2.

Ports on the monitor include; DP 1.4, mDP 1.4, 2 HDMI 2.0 ports and 4 USB 3.0 ports (2 support DC1.2 fast-charging) plus 2 USB 3.0 upstream ports (KVM capability).

The monitor is available from Dell directly for roughly $2000, with wider availability and potentially lower prices expected shortly.

$2000 for IPS UHD HDR? Sound like Dell wants to :banana:

their customers. Something definitely isn't right when a 27" IPS costs more than a 55" UHD OLED.

Yes something is wrong is PC monitors the last years. A simple QHD IPS 60hz monitor with no extra features still costs around 500-600 euros. Then we wonder why the 97% of users are still on 1080p. HDR maybe is new tech and they somehow can justify those ridiculous prices but something is really wrong when they sell QHD 60hz at around 500 and 600 euros.

one of the best non-pro screens in 32", 1440p/10bit, 12bit lookup, 100% srgb, flicker free, from asus/benq goes for 500 or less.

Yes but 1 butterfly doesn't bring Spring. The majority of monitors are too expensive for what they are.

They still find ways to overprice crap TN panels what do you expect. HDR is new and they will rip those who can afford it.
