NEC MultiSync E171M 17-Inch Monitor

Apparantly they still make 17" screens ? NEC Display Solutions of America, a leading provider of commercial LCD display and projector solutions, announced today the 17-inch LED-backlit MultiSync E171M display, a desktop monitor designed for cost and environmentally conscious business customers.

The Energy Star 6.0-compliant MultiSync E171M gives users a tool to help them enhance their productivity. The multimedia display includes 50 mm height adjustment and tilt capability for improved comfort.

This MultiSync E171M also comes with ECO Mode, which allows users to quickly adjust their brightness setting, thus saving power and reducing energy costs.

"The E171M display raises the standard for 'green' computing," said Kevin Christopherson, Director of Product Marketing for Desktop Displays at NEC Display Solutions. "There is still significant customer demand for a feature-rich, 17-inch, 5:4 display in the market; the MultiSync E171M fills this demand."

Besides the LED backlight, users also have the ability to track their carbon footprint savings with the MultiSync E171M's carbon footprint meter, a unique tool that calculates the reduction of green gas emissions. An Intelligent Power Manager (IPM) tool, meanwhile, helps conserve energy and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by switching to a low power state, or automatically powering down when the monitor is on but not in use.

The MultiSync E171M includes the following features:

  • 5:4 aspect ratio and 1280 x 1024 resolution
  • 250 cd/m2 brightness
  • 1,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio
  • Two-way ergonomic stand with 50 mm height adjustment and swivel
  • VGA and DVI-D connectivity
  • ECO Mode and Carbon Footprint Meter
  • Intelligent Power Management (IPM) system and off timer
  • Integrated speakers (1 W x 2)
  • Touch integratable
  • EPEAT Silver compliance
  • ENERGY STAR 6.0 compliance
  • TCO 6.0 compliance
  • RoHS compliance

The MultiSync E171M comes with a 3-year parts and labor limited warranty, and will be available in March 2014 at an estimated street price of $179.

I'm surprised too, quite pricey for that, as well. Can grab a decent new one for about £50.

This is a monitor for office use, for people that work in front of a PC 8 hours plus a day, just look at adjustable stand, the aspect ratio and probably this don't hurt the eyes, they don't need a wide-screen, they aren't gaming or watching a movie.
