MSI Radeon 4890 Cyclone SOC (1GHz edition) review

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 07/28/2009 09:32 AM | source: | 0 comment(s)

Today we will test and review the all new MSI Radeon HD 4890 Cyclone SOC edition (Super OverClocked), and oh-my-gosh ... for the money this thing is going to be fairly spectacular. As it runs on a 1000 MHz core clock frequency. Several improvements have been made to the board design. You'll of course notice the huge phat heatpipe based cooler, this cooler is called the Cyclone.

The design incorporates no less than four heatpipes with a thermally controlled (PWM) 10CM fan. Two of the heatpipes are actually 8mm thick (!).
