Microsoft is working on a major redesign for the Windows Store

Microsoft is working on a major redesign for the Windows Store

Microsoft is working on a major revision of its store for Windows 10. According to reports published by Windows Central, the change would not only be visual but also in terms of the policies of what types of software can be presented to integrate the space.

The change would also focus on offering a faster and more attractive user experience. The website mentions that the new version of the store should follow the same visual language as the Sun Valley update, which will revamp the Windows 10 interface in its entirety in future updates. The new Microsoft Store will remain a UWP (Universal Windows Platform) based application but will receive frequent updates on a monthly basis. Microsoft's intention is to facilitate aspects such as downloading large files, in addition to speeding up the application installation process.

According to the report, the revamped version of the store should be a more open space for developers, including accepting applications in Win32 format that are not "repackaged" in MSXI format. In addition, a proprietary update distribution network (TLD) should be offered as a way to allow developers to bring in new versions of their products more quickly. However, the most substantial change should be to free the use of sales platforms unrelated to your system in available applications and games. With that, developers will be able to completely avoid the possibility of giving a part of their profits to Microsoft, which would be an unprecedented move in the industry.

The central idea of the new Windows Store is to be an open platform that offers the best possible user experience for Windows 10 users. With the renewal, the company should also focus on it some of its main products, such as Teams, the browser Edge, and the Office suite. The company is expected to officially reveal its plans during the Build 2021 conference, scheduled for May 25.

No one is going to want to use the Windows Store, if an alternative exists, so long as they keep using their bizarro encrypted format for how files are stored. That completely prevents modding of any sort, which defeats half the purpose of playing on a PC in the first place.
