Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 18-core Broadwell-EP was for sale on Ebay for 999 USD
On Ebay an 18-core (36 threads) Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 Broadwell-EP has been on sale for the sum of € 909,- or 999 USD. This seems to be an engineering sample processor with A0 stepping. Interesting, as Intel didn't release the product officially just yet.
The 14nm 145 Watt Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 works on the X99 platform and has a clock frequency of 2.2 GHz per core with a turbo of 3.0 GHz and 2.6 GHz if all cores are stressed. So hyper-threaded this means this puppy can do 36 threads !
The seller on eBay shows the CPU specifically as well as engineering sample A0. The CPu would have 2.5MB L3 cache with 45 Mbyte of cache in total. The processor works on a Supermicro X10SR-motherboard with BIOS R 2.0 as well as the Supermicro X10DR with BIOS R 2.0, ASUS X99-series with BIOS 2101 and Z10PE with BIOS 3101. On Gigabyte GA-X99-series motherboards with BIOS F20 it works as well.
