Intel reveals details of Core i7 8809G proc with Vega M Graphics & standard IGP
Intel released specifications and information on its website regarding their Core i7 8809G processor with Vega-GPU. The Core i7 8000 series based proc will get hyper-threading and four cores.
The Indian version of the Intel website also shows the Core i7-8809G at 3.1 GHz and has 8MB L3 cache. In addition, the site mentions a 'target package tdp' of 100W and support for ddr4-2400 memory.
The GPU this is Vega based, and the "Vega RX M GH". What's hilarious is that the processor also holds the standard Intel IGP, an HD 630 and that means this one processor has the two integrated graphics units.Other specs on say compute units etc are not shared, neither is HBM2 memory mentioned. Looking at the fact that this info is shared now, close to CES .. is indicative of an announcement next week. There already have been a number of leaks on what seems to be this Frankenstein CPU/GPU build.
The 8709G would come with a Turbo up to 3.9 GHz, the base clock thus 3.1 GHz. There is hardly any information about the GPU clock, some tools have read 1.0 to 1.2 GHz. Earlier on a photo surfaced online showing the massively huge MCM design. On the left-hand side of the photo, you can see the Intel processor and to the left, the larger AMD GPU with the HBM2 stack.
A 14nm Vega architecture was the choice for the GPU, Intel also mentioned the usage of HBM2 earlier on. Earlier this year Intel already announced their Embedded Multi-Die Interconnect Bridge (EMIB) making these things (a second die) possible, for modular builds. The Intel and the AMD part communicate over what basically is a PCIe Gen 3.0 bridge wired in-between each other. The first products based on MCMs will likely be embedded products and laptops, they should launch by Q1 2018.

Already see Raja's hand in this.Intel has to pay royalities to AMD to use Vega, and both benefits in the long term. But it sounds so incredible, until you see it.
Raja gets a new job, but turns the tables to his former employer to get a chunk of cash for the Vega.Sounds like a win-win.
I don't think so. I think this was announced or rumored long before Raja started at Intel. Also i doubt Intel will change the way they do business just because of Raja's recommendations. I think this is the result of ryzen and more important now that AMD has a competitive CPU, the APU area. AMD is in front now and will stay there. If you can't beat them, join them, at least for the moment. Raja at Intel will probably try to revive Intel's GPU solutions, but it will take time.

You seem to think things happen a lot faster then they actually do.
He's been with intel for what, 2 months? And you think they just slapped together all of this and made it work in 2 months?
That's not how it works....

That looks like quite the abortion. Not sure why anyone in their right mind would do something idiotic like this. BGA filth on steroids, in search of silly people that like to waste money on anemic and disposable tech garbage.

You do realize this is for mobile purposes, right? We're likely going to see these in ultrabooks, which are supposed to be high performance in a thin package. You can't get the level of performance that this i7 has with an LGA or PGA setup in an ultrabook or tablet.
As an enthusiast, I prefer upgradability over stupid fads like thinness, but I think this will be a legitimately good platform. By the time this would become obsolete, there wouldn't be anything to upgrade to anyway, seeing as Intel intentionally breaks chipset compatibility and AMD breaks legacy APIs.
