Intel Tapes in Meteor Lake Compute Tile (7nm)
Intel sends word that they have taped in their forthcoming 7 nm Meteor Lake compute tile. Basically this entails that they're ready to fabricate the chip. A tape out actually is the first series-produced.
Meteor Lake (MTL) is very likely the 14th Generation series Core processors which should see a release somewhere in 2023. Here Intel makes a move towards 7nm, based on an Enhanced SuperFin node. Meteor Lake will also be a hybrid series with a mix of big and little energy-friendly cores. These processors would be pin compatible with the pending Alder Lake reviews, and thus would fit on a Series 600 motherboard.

Tape-out means that the design of the chip has been sent to the foundry for manufacturing. The terms date back to when the design data of the chip is stored in a tape format before sending it physically to the foundry. Nowadays, we send the data electronically, but we still use the term "tape-out".
