Intel Dual Socket Ice Lake-SP Processors Pitted Against AMD EPYC Rome

Intel is hard at work to release a new server series processors; Intel Ice Lake-SP Processors would be based on 10nm. At Geekbench a result has been spotted, a dual CPU configuration of two 28-core Golden Cove processor have been compared towards 64-core Rome from AMD.

The concealed Dual Ice Lake-SP model with 28 cores, 56 threads per proc is listed at a base frequency of 1.5 GHz, and a boost of 3.19 GHz for some of its cores. Setup in two sockets and thus two processors you'll end up at 56 cores and 112 threads.

On the other side of the results, you'll see a single CPU from AMD, Rome based 64 core AMD EPYC 7442. The dual-socket Intel configuration marks down 3424 points in the single-threaded test, AMD scored 4398 points. Multi-threaded, however, Intel's setup scored 38079 points, the AMD EPYC system scored lower, 35492 points.

Arguably you can discuss the results. But remember, the Intel platform has two CPUs and twice the cooling. You'll also need to purchase two processors there. Regardless, it looks like it that Ice Lake-SP certainly would be capable. Time will learn us the truth though.

Not the same OS, not the same memory size (don't know what impact it could have).
But the best is yet to come, Ice Lake-SP should have challenged Epyc Rome. Sadly for Intel, they are a little bit late and it's gonna have to face Milan instead at the end of the year.

If i remember right.. windows 10 Pro have some problem using processor with to many core (32+), instead the server edition, or the workstation edition work much better.
