HP OMEN 32 WQHD Gaming Monitor With AMD FreeSync Technology

HP OMEN 32 WQHD Gaming Monitor With AMD FreeSync Technology

HP Japan shows the upcoming 32-inch WQHD gaming monitor, the OMEN HP 32. Utilizing the AMD FreeSync this new 32-inch WVA+ LED-backlight monitor supports a native resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and provides 3000:1 contrast ratio (DCR 10,000,000:1), 300 cd/m2 brightness, 5ms response time and 178/178 degree viewing angles.

The size of the monitor is, as the name correctly suggests, 32 inches and it will have a 2560×1440 resolution, also called Quad HD, offering 1.78 times as many pixels as a Full HD screen. The refresh rate of the monitor will be 75Hz and it will be supporting AMD FreeSync, an Adaptive-Sync technology that will eliminate screen tearing without any performance cost, and thus result in a much smoother gameplay. The response time is also specified as just 5ms, which is great. No word on input lag yet.

Providing 100% coverage of the standard RGB color space, the OMEN HP 32 comes equipped with 2x HDMI, 1x DisplayPort1.2 and 2-port USB Type-A hub. The OMEN HP 32 is scheduled to hit the market from late July for 44,800 Yen (about $428).

As far as color quality goes, the HP Omen 32-inch monitor will support 100 percent of the sRGB color spectrum and the panel type will be WVA, which stands for Wide Viewing Angle. It’s essentially a VA-panel type, which means that it will give you very good black levels, but not as good color quality as IPS panels.

More details about this display will follow as we get hold of more available information.

TBF, the price of FreeSync monitors is much better than G-sync. However, this 2 standards situation is really stupid and needs to be consolidated into one standard.

Either both sides supports both (won't happen) or use open-standard (that seems to lean towards AMD version). Despite G-sync being better, I don't think the premium is justified and yeah, at 2k resolution the premium is quite expensive...for a monitor.

Anyway, this is a nice product @ 75hz but 5ms.
