by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 04/10/2013 08:31 AM | source: | 12 comment(s)

Google have unveiled a dramatic redesign to the Google Play Store (the update is version 4.0.16). The new design includes the design language that Google is aiming for with Google Now and Android 4.2, with lots of light areas and a card-based interface. The new update is available on handsets running Android 2.2 or newer. Google is rolling out the update to all users today, so check your device! (or download APK)

Can we hope that it isn't as slow as the current version? My old HTC Flyer running HC 3.2.1 can barely cope with the existing version. Quite possibly the size of bloat Google Play and Google Play Services has become could very well have something to do with it.

I've got no problem with it on my GNEX. It feels a lot smoother navigating it now than it did on the previous one.

Cool, I'll have to wait until I get home to test it on my tablet. I hope it does sort the issue out. Would love to root but I risk losing access to some programs.

Annoying that you still can't access the store from the Isle of Man as it says the "app is not available in my country"

Bit poor really, have to use a UK VPN to get apps, ridiculous

Hmm I'm already on version 4.0.25

also it's a lot better than the old one the store was in need of a halo facelift.
