Gigabyte Releases X399 DESIGNARE EX for Ryzen Threadripper

You'll either love or hate the looks of this one, but Gigabyte is releasing a X399 DESIGNARE EX motherboard for Threadripper. The motherboard was announced a few days ago for the TR4 platform.

The looks as stated, are trivial. I personally would never buy something looking like that; while for others their eyes probably just popped out and think it is gorgeous. The board has all the modern age features including shielded M2 slots and carefully borrowed from ASUS, an I/O armor shield. Despite it big looks, the board follows a standard ATX form factor.

The main specifications, memory slots DDR4-3600 + × 8 (maximum 128GB / ECC compatible), storage SATA3.0 (6Gbps) × 8, M.2 22110 × 2, M.2 2280 × 1. Expansion slots are PCI-Express3.0 (x16) × 2, PCI-Express3.0 (x8 / x16) × 2, PCI-Express2.0 (x4 / x16) × 1, multi-graphics 4-Way for AMD CrossFire X / NVIDIA SLI. Network is based on a dual gigabit LAN (Intel I211AT × 2), IEEE 802.11ac wireless LAN,Bluetooth 4.2. In addition to the audio circuit, equipped with a high-quality circuit with WIMA and Nichicon audio capacitors.

  • Socket: Socket TR4
