Gigabyte hit by ransomware attack by hacker collective RansomEXX

Taiwanese technology company Gigabyte was the target of a ransomware assault, the attack is the work of hacker organization RansomEXX, which has threatened to disclose critical information from the firm.

Website Bleepingcomputer received a link from an anonymous source that directed them toward an abandoned website of the hacker organization RansomExxx. The allegation is made that this is the source of the assault, and demands are made. According to the source, 112GB of data was taken from the network of Gigabyte Corporation. A nondisclosure agreement would be in place for the majority of the information. The hackers have threatened to make everything public.

It was revealed to BleepingComputer that four screenshots of papers covered by a nondisclosure agreement had been sent. A debug guide for American Megatrends products was included in one of the documents, while others covered "possible problems" with Intel products, the Ice Lake D SKU update timetable, and an AMD revision guide.

The assault resulted in the temporary inaccessibility of the company's Taiwanese web presence. Additionally, the support sites were unavailable for a short period of time. According to BleepingComputer, Gigabyte verified the story to Chinese media and was forced to temporarily shut down its information technology systems as a result of the assault.
