Geekbench to conceal unreleased hardware benchmark results, bids farewell to leaks

Geekbench's creator has opted to stop showing results for unreleased devices. That means Geekbench results for Alder Lake and future CPU architectures like Raptor Lake and Zen 4 will be a thing of ther past.

“Primate Labs will prevent test results with hardware not yet released on Geekbench,” reads the Geekbench website. Pre-release hardware includes Engineering Samples (ES), Quality Samples (QS), and unreleased hardware. AMD and Intel provide pre-production ES and QS chips to OEM system builders, software suppliers, and occasionally reviewers. This is not always the case.

Those who have been looking and receiving attention from the leaks will be pleased. Geekbench has been a goldmine for this type of information. Not directly, at least. Indirectly, the benchmark can still start using ES and QS chips, but the results will no longer be posted on the website. For now, we can only trust leakers who release scores on Twitter or elsewhere.

Geekbench has also leaked graphics cards and components for upcoming devices. They will likely vanish from the site in the future.

One of those decisions where you just want to sit in the meeting room and go "You know the only time I visit your site is for these leaks, right?

I'm sure they've weighted this decision against the money bags they got from Intel and AMD. Or the cease and desist they got from their lawyers.

That's one way to make your program less relevant.
