Devils Canyon Core i7 4790K will get 4 GHz Base and 4.4 GHz Turbo Clock

Yesterday Intel released its faster quad core processor Core i7 4790 (our review here), clocking up-to a boost/turbo frequency of 4 GHz. However roughly in the Computex timeframe you are going to see releases of the K series Core i7 and i5 processors, developed under code-name Devil's Canyon. They have an improved heatspreader & thermal insulation material in that CPU package that is going to cool these processors much better once you pump extra volts in them. New information just surfaced on its clock frequency, as the flagship CPU will get a turbo clock of 4.4 GHz at default.

The i7-4790K will launch with a clock speed of 4.00 GHz and a Turbo Boost frequency of 4.40 GHz. The Core i5-4670K launches clock speed of 3.50 GHz, with Turbo Boost frequency of 3.90 GHz. According to new info it is expected that these CPUs would be capable of running at clock speeds of 5.00 GHz, on air-cooling.

They always advertise this, but the reality will be with binning that most chips will max out at like 4.4ghrz and will never be able to reach 5ghrz. You'll have to be extremely lucky unless you're a reviewer, to which they'll ship out the best silicon.

Well they said a lot of good things about Haswell too. I'll believe it when I see people actually use it. RPGgamesplayer, you are the chosen one :D

I don't know why they ever stopped using solder as the TIM, stupid move.
