Delidded Core i7 8700K Processor Spotted

And the die is roughly 151mm2 in size, which is a good amount bigger compared to say the Core i7 7700K. Not at all surprising with two more cores eh?

The photo was just posted at hkepc on FB. Tomorrow reviews of the Core i7 8700K Processors will go live. The new six-core part will get 12 threads and an all-core boost up-to 4.3 GHz. The processor size itself is of course as wide as the "Kaby Lake," but the die simply is longer. Roughly 151 mm² with 126 mm² for "Kaby Lake."

  • 6 Cores / 12 Threads
  • 12MB L3 Cache
  • UHD Graphics 630 (GT2) IGP
  • Ratio Unlocked
  • 95W TDP

4GHz on all cores (out of the box) is a great accomplishment and hopefully the pricing is right.

Yeah same shape as 8 core threadripper maybe it has 2 cores disabled? :p

Edit:Nope AMD has longer die :)
It has an iGPU. About 30% of the die size is GPU.

Yep i know useless iGPU for desktop CPU-s, they should put 2 more cores at least :)

I don't feel it's wasted. It allows Intel to make one processor instead of two. The biggest reason R5's have not shown up in business/enterprise computers is because they require a dGPU which drives up cost of the unit. Remember the bulk of sales comes form business/enterprise not home users or gamers.

The CPU might be a beast but that iGPU is crap...as kastriot said: they should put 2 more cores instead.

How is that GPU crap? It can display 4k. It's not intended for high end photo and video editing. It's not intended for gaming. But it damn sure can display a excel spreadsheet, PDFs, word documents and email.

I feel some of you guys have no understanding of the world outside of your own bubble.
