It seems that Sata 6G finally will be worth the while, at the end of this month Corsair will introduce its Performance 3 Series solid state disks. These 2.5" storage devices use the Marvell 9174 SSD controller and feature a SATA 6Gbps interface. Each model has 128MB cache, there's trim and garbage collection support and the power consumption is 1W in idle and 2.5W in load.

Here's a look at the specifications of each disk:

  • 64GB: 365MB/s read, 110MB/s write
  • 128GB: 410MB/s read, 210MB/s write
  • 256GB: 480MB/s read, 320MB/s write
