Computex 2017: Breaking News - Noctua First To NOT Offer RGB fans

And pardon the headline pun, it is actually quite refreshing to see Noctua sticking to what they are really good at, designing extremely good heatsinks and fans. They have a couple of prototypes on display, as well as coolers for AMD Threadripper.

Each year Noctua has a small booth at Computex which we always quickly visit to catch up with the team. Noctua is what we we consider one the best heatpipe based cooling companies on the globe. On display and being talked about are:

A lot has been said and spoken about their beige colored fans, good to know for many is that they offer them in black these days as well. Noctua has the standard range of product on display up-to the latest D15 series and the new small form factor products. Still in prototype status are new Sterrox (the marketing name) liquid crystal polymer based fans, the raw material that is used in Kevlar. They have have these in development for a long time already. Basically it will stiffen the fan blades so that they can get smaller tolerances in the fan housing. This helps in airflow but also noise levels. If you look at the temp readings in the photos to the right a two fan cooler, to the left singe fan based on the same temp. that's the new fan. But it is good to see this company alive and kicking as they do with their rock-solid coolers in what is a difficult PC market.

But please do take a look at the new prototype ones, and check that cooling block for Threadripper SP3, thats a baseplate alright. THe new NH-L9 is intended for small form factor products at a height of just 37 mm. This unit is cooled the NF-A9x14 PWM 92 mm fan.

Noctua has been showing many protoypes of all and more high-end CPU coolers bringing support for the Intel's Core X family socket LGA2066 processors. However LGA2066 has the same exact CPU cooler mount-hole spacing as LGA2011(v3), and as such, any LGA2011-compatible cooler will run on LGA2066.
