CEO of AMD, asserts that the Ryzen 7000 launch would not be bothered by supply concerns

AMD has officially announced the Zen 4-powered Ryzen 7000 processors. They'll be available on September 27, but as with so many new product launches, particularly from AMD, there will be supply concerns.

AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su has promised fans that there would be plenty of CPUs available at launch. Lisa Su answered a question at the event about the industry's current supply chain challenges and whether this would result in a limited quantity of Ryzen 7000 CPUs being released next month.

“It is true that if we look back 18 months, we had capacity or logistics limitations,” said the CEO. “From an AMD point of view, we have dramatically increased our manufacturing capacity , in terms of wafers, substrates and back-ends. So with our release of Zen 4 we don't expect to have any restrictions on supplies."

"Logistically, things are taking a little longer to get to different regions right now, which is why we have this event at the end of August and will go on sale on September 27; one of the reasons for that time, frankly, is to get the product to all regions so that people who really want to buy can do so."

The four Ryzen 7000 processors will be released on September 27, with the top of the range leading the way, the Ryzen 9 7950X (16 cores/12 threads) for $699, the Ryzen 9 7900X (12 cores/24 threads) for $549, the Ryzen 7700X (8-core/16-thread) for $399, and the Ryzen 5 7600X (6-core/12-thread) for $299.

With lower demand and higher cost of ownership for the new platform (CPU needs new motherboard and memory)in these months, we believe AMD will be able to provide CPUs to the entire market; also the market is not in a favorable place.

No problem here but big problems with having to buy a new platform and prices (announced) for AM5 motherboards are out of line and DDR5 price is also very high at this moment...
There are also problems with cooling - some say that existing AM4 cooling solution will work, others like EK say that you need a new mounting system (
While the mounting hole pattern of the new AM5 socket is still 54 x 90mm, the AM5 motherboards now have an integrated CPU socket backplate with #UNC 6-32 threads, therefore requiring a new mounting system.
) so if you invested in a custom loop or high end closed loop you have to pay again or you are at the mercy of the cooling solutions manufacturers to provide an adapter - maybe..
I don't know - from the news 7950X seems like a real beast but with this economy and other more important expenses (prices for gas and energy up the roof here and winter is coming...) I think that I will keep my 5950X and skip the 7000 generation - let's see the 8000 - by that time if they keep the same socket prices for motherboards and RAM will be maybe more decent.

You havnt had to buy a new platform for a very long time, if people want to see advances in technology then they have to adopt change.

If you were an enthusiast, you have been buying new platforms every upgrade cycle. I can't remember the last time I upgraded in-socket. Probably X58. RAM was the only thing that carried over, and even then, if you were a regular Joe, you'd likely upgrade once every RAM cycle anyway.

Yes, this is my concern. If there is enough product to screw over the profit margins of scalpers, or at least deter them, then bravo AMD. But I have strong doubts there will be enough.
