Canon readying 1D Mark IIIn ??
Canon may use the upcoming PMA expo to introduce an upgraded variant of its EOS-1D Mark III flagship, according to a German store catalog entry. The listing purportedly shows an EOS-1D Mark IIIn already in the system with a price tag of 4,240 Euros ($5,603) but with other text blurred. No release dates or other specifications are included in the leak, which was initially thought to be fake but has since gained additional credibility.
While the rumor remains unconfirmed, the 1D hasn't been updated since 2007 and was the earliest Canon camera to ship with DIGIC III processors and a 21-megapixel sensor in the form of the 1Ds. It has since been partly eclipsed by the 5D Mark II, which uses a newer DIGIC IV chip and captures images at roughly the same resolution. Competing cameras such as the Nikon D3x also offer higher resolutions.
PMA begins on March 3rd.
