AverMedia Live Gamer 4K capture cards that can record 4K and HDR are now available

AverMedia Live Gamer 4K capture cards that can record 4K and HDR are now available

AverMedia a few weeks ago announced their Live Gamer 4K capture card series that is able to record 4K as well as HDR, the card is now available for around 299 USD. These cards can also record Full HD at up to 240 fps to seamlessly capture every single frame output from today's high-performance game systems.

The Live Gamer 4K is a $300 PCIe capture card that is capable of recording video over HDMI at a 2160p resolution at 60 frames per second. That is similar to the $400 Elgato 4K60 Pro, and like that competing device, the Live Gamer 4K requires a beefy PC with a recent graphics card to work. But unlike the Elgato, the Live Gamer 4K can also record content in HDR. AVerMedia has also introduced ultra high framerate options so you can do 1440p at 144 FPS or 1080p at 240 FPS. he Live Gamer Ultra, meanwhile, is AVermedia’s $250 external USB capture card. It uses a USB 3.1 type-C port to capture up to 2160p30, 1440p60, or 1080p120 without having to install anything inside of your desktop. It does not support HDR, but it also doesn’t require the best graphics cards to work since it processes much of the video itself before sending it to your CPU. AVerMedia offers capture cards for all gamer types, as the company additionally confirmed today the upcoming Live Gamer ULTRA, a driverless, laptop-friendly external card supporting both PCs and Macs that can capture up to 4Kp30 with full 4K HDR passthrough and onboard video processing, and the Live Gamer EXTREME 2, a smaller external card with customizable graphic cover, 4K passthrough, onboard downscaling and 1080p60 recording. The Live Gamer 4K and Live Gamer ULTRA cards are scheduled to ship on June 25, while the Live Gamer EXTREME 2 is available today online and at retail. Game streaming is one of the fastest growing entertainment sectors, with over 100M monthly users on Twitch alone. In conjunction, PC and next generation console gaming are increasingly moving to stunning 4K visuals. AVerMedia's Live Gamer 4K UHD lineup unites both these trends, allowing gamers and influencers to "future proof" their rig for 4K and high frame rate capture easily, and at an affordable price. From the top of the line Live Gamer 4K that can capture incredible 4K HDR details down to the movement of an eyelash to the highly affordable Live Gamer EXTREME 2, AVerMedia has the cards gamers want and need. Additionally, all cards come with AVerMedia's proprietary RECentral software that supports simultaneous streaming to Twitch, YouTube and Mixer from a single app, and CyberLink's PowerDirector 15 4K video editing software.

First instinct: I want!
Second thought: Who can stream 4K HDR fluently these days? Or who uploads such material to youtube? Not sure this has many practical applications (yet).

Blah that price though, $100 more than the last capture card I got. But this is precisely what I've been looking for. I can't even use windows built in game recorder in hdr because it washes all the colors out when playing the file back. I wish it said which hdr types it supports though. Does it support dolby vision, hlg, hdr10+ etc
