ASUS Republic of Gamers G550JK Gaming Notebook Released

ASUS ROG (Republic of Gamers) announces the G550JK gaming notebook, an ultra-compact powerhouse with an ultra-crisp 15.6-inch display that offers all the benefits associated with the award-winning ROG notebook range in an even more portable form factor. Powered by 4th-generation Intel Core i7 processors, and featuring an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M GPU that can be overclocked thanks to ASUS TurboMaster technology, G550 provides the ultimate gaming-on-the-go experience for discerning users.

Power to go
G550JK may be compact, slim and portable, but it packs a big punch. ROG-exclusive ASUS TurboMaster technology with GPU Tweak software allows the enthusiast-grade NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M GPU to be safely overclocked by up to 5%. And even when running at maximum speed, G550JK keeps its cool thanks to the intelligent dual-fan cooling system, which uses two independent fans and copper heat-sinks to cool the CPU and GPU perfectly when needed.

Stunning visuals, majestic sound
Visual enjoyment is assured by G550JK's beautifully-detailed 15.6-inch Full HD IPS LED-backlit display, with its wide 178-degree viewing angles and anti-glare coating for comfort during long gaming sessions. ASUS Color Gamut Management and automatic Color Management ensure a stunning visual experience at all times, with accurate, deep, rich and lifelike colors.

ASUS SonicMaster Premium, incorporating ICEpower, Bang & Olufsen technology, gives G550JK incredibly powerful high-fidelity audio with unrivalled clarity, and the external SonicMaster subwoofer pumps out massive bass for truly immersive gaming. ROG AudioWizard software makes light work of controlling audio settings for any environment, with five presets for different game genres.

Styled to win
The sleek and muscular low-profile aluminum lines of G550JK are enhanced by the signature ROG color scheme of matte black with fine red diamond-cut detailing. The subtle illuminated ROG logo on the lid adds a touch of exclusivity and makes sure opponents know exactly what they're up against. Just as cool is the red backlight on the seamless one-piece chiclet keyboard, making it easy on the eyes when gaming in darkened environments. Measuring just 27 mm at the thickest point, G550JK can go anywhere, and win everywhere.

No backlit keyboard? No sale.
At least they got the keyboard layout right:

Rectangular Enter key instead of L-shape? Check!
Start key on the left? Check!
Context Menu key on the right? Check!

I'll go MSI Apache Pro and live with the funky keyboard layout.

Why can't they make laptops that are for adults. I don't need some ROG badge on my PC. That badge stuff is honestly a deal breaker in what looks like a all around good laptop...minus DDR3 VRAM.
