ASUS adding frontpanel USB 3.0 to P55 motherboards

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 07/16/2010 01:40 PM | source: | 0 comment(s)

Much like many other main board manufacturers ASUS is prepping a P55 motherboard but this time arround with USB 3.0 ports for the frontpane as welll. This motherboard though would be the first P55 with USB 3.0 connectors based on two NEC chips, though many will follow shortly though.

Even though Asus has different motherboards with USB 3.0 connectors on the market including the P7P55 series. Never before, however, the company introduced a motherboard on the market with USB 3.0 headers according to Intel's standard. P7P55/USB3-mobo in ATX format.

The motherboard contains the P55 chipset, two PCI-Express x16 slots (one x16 and one x4 times electric) and two PCI slots. Four slots and six SATA-300 ports are also placed on the motherboard. Besides the USB 3.0 ports in the I / O panel also made six regular USB ports and the board is equipped with USB 2.0 headers. A Gigabit Ethernet jack and eight-channel audio rounds off the features. No SATA-600 / 6G, that's surprizing though. The motherboard would cost around 150 U.S. dollars or euros for that matter.
