ASUS Offers BIOS Update: Z390 now supports up-to 128 GB RAM
Asus offers a new BIOS update for its Z390 motherboards, which increases the maximum RAM capacity from 64 to 128 gigabytes. So far, Asus has not announced which models receive the update. However, it seems that gradually all Z390 motherboards get the update available.
Previously, 128 gigabyte RAM capacity was reserved for the Intel X299 platform with eight DIMM banks. Intel has updated its memory reference code (MRC), which has increased the memory connectivity of the ninth-generation Intel Core processors from 16 to 32 gigabytes per DIMM.
This results in a total system memory capacity of 128 GB when the board is filled with two DIMMs per channel (2DPC) on both memory channels. Owners of selected Asus Z390 motherboards can upgrade their system to use up to 128GB of memory. The updates are available on the Asus support page . More BIOS updates for other Asus Z390 motherboards will follow soon.
