ASRock seems to support new AMD Ryzen 3000 chips for its A320 motherboards

ASRock seems to support new AMD Ryzen 3000 chips for its A320 motherboards

If you just had a peek at the ASUS Ryzen 3000 compatibility list you will have noticed that A320 motherboards are not updated for compatibility. ASRock however also updated their support pages and it seems AMD Ryzen 3000 chips could be compatible with their A320 motherboards.

All ASRock motherboards receive a BIOS update (AGESA to 0.0.7.2) that presumably supports Ryzen 3000 processors. You can check a list is on the ASRock support pages here and that page shows models for A320, B350, X370, B450 and X470 chipset getting the very same AGESA 0.0.7.2 firmware update.

I do want to note though that these firmware updates can go two ways, they probably can support Ryzen 3000 processors. However, it could very well be that the new support is intended for just the 3000 series APUs, and these are based on the Zen+ (2000 series) architecture.

Ive been holding off getting a 2600x and my board just got the Ryzen 2 bios update. X370 Killer SLI A/C. Cant wait to get a Ryzen 2 chip. If I can have 4.2-4.5 on a 6 core ryzen chip, Ill be in heaven. I know the 2600x does 4.1 with good cooling boost, but overclocking in manually when I tested one and same with my 1600 breaks BF1, and BF5 audio for me. No bios got rid of the ryzen overclocking bug for me.

if this is true and asrock is one of the only brands that give support for the 3xxx series on even a320 chipsets ... i will go full on exclusive asrock after that ! They always seem to do the most wide bios updateds in this kind of thing while other brands often seem to be *holding* back as much as they can before the receive backlash. We will see !

Considering the overall construction of A320 boards, I'm not sure I'd run anything more than an 8-core on them, but still cool to get the option to on such a cheap platform.
