Apacer AS2280P4U Pro NVMe M.2 SSD with ultra-thin aluminum heat sink

Apacer AS2280P4U Pro NVMe M.2 SSD with ultra-thin aluminum heat sink

NVMe M.2 SSD with PCI-Express 3.0 (x4) connectivity. There are four variants available in sizes of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB, all of which use the M.2 2280 form factor.

With an ultra-thin aluminum heat sink, it lowers the temperature of the SSD by up to 25%. As a result, it is feasible to reduce component degradation caused by heat while simultaneously inhibiting thermal throttling. Additionally, it includes global wear leveling, Smart ECC, and end-to-end data security. NAND flash memory is 3D NAND, with sequential read speeds of up to 3,500MB / sec, write speeds of up to 3,000MB / sec, and random write speeds of up to 360,000 IOPS. The mean time between failures is 1.5 million hours, and the device is covered by a five-year warranty. External dimensions are 22 mm in width, 80 mm in depth, and 2.25 mm in height. As an alternative, the "AS2280P4U" variant is also available without the heat sink.

And this makes sense. This or with extra thin fins / pins.
SSDs don't produce much heat, but it's enough to get really hot, especially with limited air flow. Huge heatsinks, especially thick ones make very little sense. Like that Thermalright one, where there was huge copper bar without any real surface area.

Here, you can get a sample - laptop put vertically with back cover removed. And it's no just after removing - it was like that whole day. This photo was taken when it was much warmer over here, and yes, I know I should replace the thermal pads for the graphics. Cooler rectangle over CPU - plastic handle. White is 95°C+
