Angelbird SSD2go pocket

Angelbird launched the SSD2go pocket, expanding on the success of its SSD2go series.

The SSD2go pocket is small only in terms of physical size. A product with read/write-speeds over USB 3.0 and an extremely robust, handcrafted aluminium body - this leaves nothing to be desired, mechanically or aesthetically. Weighing only 90 grams, the SSD2go pocket measures 89.0mm x 69.9mm x 10.4mm.

From -20°C to 70°C (-4°F to 158°F), the SSD2go pocket works flawlessly - with data integrity guaranteed from -40°C to 85°C (-40°F to 185°F). Power efficiency of the Angelbird SSD2go pocket is impressive, especially when you are on the move, with the 128GB version drawing just 0.8W in idle and only 2.4W under full load.

The case is made of CNC-machined aluminium, with a stylish pearl blasted and hard-anodised finish. At the time of launch there are four colour options for the SSD2go pocket: Silver, Blue, Red and Black. Together with the extremely robust type-A USB 3.0 port, the SSD2go pocket is a durable workhorse that won't let you down, even on the toughest mission and with transfer rates of 450 MB/s (read) and 390 MB/s (write) - the drive is fast enough for even the most demanding applications.

Those transfer speeds are made possible through the native implementation of UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol), which makes optimal use of the Silicon Motion 2246EN-controller. The SSD2go pocket uses only custom packed original micron NAND (16nm/L95B) parts.
This attention to quality continues throughout the Angelbird manufacturing process, including vapour-phase soldering. This method is more time consuming than reflow soldering used in cheaper processes, but the results are significantly better. Specifically, it guarantees optimum solder quality in all Angelbird products - giving an MTBF of more than 2 million hours.

That confidence in quality means Angelbird is able to provide a 5-year warranty on the SSD2go pocket. The Angelbird SSD2go pocket is very user-friendly, with "straight from the box" compatibility with computers, TV sets and a huge range of multimedia devices in your car and home. Even USB On-The-Go (OTG) is supported by the SSD2go pocket.

To ensure maximum data integrity, Angelbird has also implemented additional surge and overload protection, including (ESD, EMS), TRIM, ECC and SMART.

Uniquely, the Angelbird SSD2go pocket is the only mobile SSD of its kind in the world that can process TRIM and SMART commands, benefiting from a host of important features.

As well as outstanding hardware, firmware and software, Angelbird customers also benefit from the inclusion of time-limited full versions of Parallels 10 (limited to 6 months), Bitwig Studio 1.0 (limited to 3 months), System Reflection back-up tool (unlimited) and PureMix instructional videos. In addition, renowned musicians like Marshall Jefferson, CeCe Rogers and Trash Junk offer exclusive music and samples for remix purposes.

Each SSD2go pocket has a unique serial number which can be used to register the device online with Angelbird's PSP (Personal Support Portal), giving you access to useful information. This one-stop-shop will let you know how much time remains on your warranty etc., as well as giving you access to exclusive software downloads.

The SSD2go pocket is currently available in capacities of 128, 256 and 512 GB. As well as choosing from Silver, Blue, Black and Red, SSD2go pocket customers who choose to order directly from Angelbird's own web site, can now order special personalized units - with a bespoke two-line engraved message.
