AMD Cans Project Skybridge - the x86-ARM combination
New news is also that AMD cans Project Skybridge, alongside with it the x86-ARM combination. AMD is going to focus less on low-end PCs, tables and smart-phones. And more at gaming, data-centres and embedded custom chips.
In that dynamic the development of ARM cores will stay on track, but Project Skybridge with it the x86-ARM combination is canned. For this project AMD wanted to combined ARM -A57 cores with Pume+ cores and a GCN based GPU. Based on feedback from the market, this idea was halted states AMD CEO Lisa Su.

I would not get another ARM tablet anyway. I am waiting for x86 one and hope it will come.
To topic, I am not sure what this is based on, because I read entire released materials and they state that ARM chips are not canned, but postponed due to very small demand/growth in ARM servers.
Skybridge is basically ARM microarchitecture which can be inserted into chip instead of x86 CPU part. So, you can have one socket and based on requirement you'll use ARM/x86. Unless AM4 design does not allow for ARM cores (which is very improbable), it is only postponed till ARM server business shows decent growth.
Basically AM4 has been introduced as APU+CPU shared socket, so My money are on ability to have ARM cores there too.

2014-05-05:
AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced a roadmap of near- and mid-term computing solutions that harness the best characteristics of both the x86 and ARM® ecosystems, called “ambidextrous computing.” The cornerstone of this roadmap is the announcement of AMD’s 64-bit ARM architecture license for the development of custom high-performance cores for high-growth markets.

Lisa Su explicitly said they're not interested in tablets.

Though I think AMD could really use a piece of the low-power market, such a thing was never their strength at any point in their history. ARM alone will probably always do better than AMD in the mobile segment and Intel is already starting to outperform ARM.
