They're trying to clear those old FX processors out I think (wonders how many they've got.....). My good old FX6300 is still going and I still think it was underrated CPU - cheap and not unreasonable perfomance.

And great in overclock too. I had mine at 4.5GHz on air and was quite fast.
The old FX are still a great deal for the guys who have an AM3 board and no money to switch to Ryzen and DDR4 memory. Moving from an Athlon to a 6-8 cores FX is a big jump in performance.
And if one doesn't want to overclock, the system doesn't need a powerful PSU or an expensive motherboard. So they can be still a very good upgrade for cheap computer builds.
Not to say that now there will be plenty of them on ebay.
