XFX adds Speedster Merc 319 Radeon RX 6900 XT Ultra Gaming to its lineup

XFX has announced a rather beefy Radeon RX 6900 XT, the Speedster Merc 319 ultra Gaming. The graphics card will distinguish itself with high clock speeds and a firm cooler.

The product is of course empowered by Navi 21 and receives a base clock frequency of 1925 MHz and a boost up to 2340 MHz. The 16 GB of video memory offers bandwidth of 512 GB/s. The card gets two 8-pin power connectors and 14+2 VRM power stages, that according to XFX allow for more stability and overclocking space. The graphics card offers a three-slot cooler with three fans and measures in at a very decent 34 x 13.9 x 5.7 cm and. It has a single HDMI 2.1 port, two Displayport 1.4 connections, and a USB-C port. A dual-bios switch is also provided. After registering via xfxsupport.com, you get a three-year warranty on the video card. In the United States, the video card would become available for $ 1100.

For those that missed it, we tested the 6800XT variant of the card, you can read that review here.

I'd ordered the XFX RX 6900XT reference model, then this showed up! Needless to say, I'd ordered this too, now thinking of whether to keep the reference model or the MERC319. Since I'd ordered the reference model earlier, it'd arrive earlier, but there's only a few days difference between them. Still mulling it over as I figure I've some time still, most likely to keep the MERC319 and cancel the reference model.

1,100$

Let's see what this number means for Nvidia, if they choose to make a move.

I will hold off buying any new GPU until sometime into next year. I want to see if AMD can improve RT performance driver wise, and support wise (CP...)

I say, test them both out and keep your favorite. Sell the other! That Merc is so long, it will not fit in my Corsair AIR 540, so it is not even an option for me.

The Merc was going to be my choice for the 6800XT, but unfortunately, my case will comfortably fit a 12.5" GPU which leaves me about 3/4 of an inch too short! I definitely don't want to change the case--Antec 302. Too bad XFX won't make a 12.5" model--I'd probably buy it. However, now that AMD has reaffirmed it will continue making reference models, I may just wait for that--hopefully, sometime in January, paying MSRP.
