Following a partnership between Blizzard and AMD, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands received features like Ray Tracing, Variable Rate Shading, and FidelityFX Ambient Occlusion., and decided to release a little video on it.

Although AMD made mention of Ray Tracing technology in the presentation of its Radeon RX 6000, it did not give many details. Later, the company said it was going to provide more information before GPUs hit the market, and now released a video focused on the most popular MMO RPG in history, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. Frank Kowalkowski, CTO of Blizzard Entertainment, explained what they have to offer after the collaboration with AMD:

“One of the new features we have implemented in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is FidelityFX Ambient Occlusion . This is a computer-based effects technique that offers a perfect balance between quality and performance. Thus, we achieved a significant performance advantage over our previous ambient occlusion applications.

Another great feature of the RX 6000 is the DXR Ray Tracing technology. What you can see are incredibly complex calculations on these graphics cards. This is a level of realism that was not possible until recently. Finally, we implement the Variable Rate Shading . This will provide a performance boost, especially at higher resolutions. We've partnered with AMD to make sure gamers can use the full power of the hardware and improve the frame rate as much as possible. In addition, Infinity Cache technology improves performance. "
