It was up, but only be a measly 0.07 percent versus December. Total Windows 8.x marketshare stands at 10.58 percent and most of it is still Windows 8, a mere 37% of Windows 8 users has installed the free Windows 8.1 update. Windows 8.x continues its uneven growth. I wonder if the still failing US economy has anything to do with the lackluster sales?

or that fact that peoples pc with windows 7 is still running strong and fast have no reason to buy something when something already works.

and they dont advertise desktops with windows 8. they just been advertising the surface.

stores ads that do advertise windows 8 computers have the screens showing the startscreen and not the desktop. so some people dont know there is still a desktop behind that startscreen

when windows 95 came out alot of people bought it. they went to stores and they bought the cd or they bought a new computer because there window 3.1 computer could not run windows 95

windows 98 wasnt as big. people still went out to buy it to see whats it
about.

window 2000 not alot of people knew about it. mostly business used it. but I found out my games ran really fast in it compared to windows 98 on the same machine and was more stable.

windows xp. people went out and bought it. some found out they needed more powerful hardware and bought new pc, some didnt. said they could live with 500mhz computer and 512mb ram.

windows me...............windows who?

windows vista. people saw it was different, and it was and went to stores and bought it. found out there windows 95 upgraded to windows xp machine could not run it or it looked bad. non aero basic thick themes eww. and ran slow due to lack of memory and oems was making xp machines but putting vista on them and they ran like crap.

windows 7 yeah everyone learned there lesson with windows vista. so now everything runs great and dont have to install 3 service packs and 400 updates. omg

windows 8 there is nothing wrong with my windows 7 machine. why do I need windows 8. and people that did buy it..... ehhhhhhhhhhhh why do I want this big ass menu screen on my monitor. what happened to my fancy transparent windows. lifeless login screen and everything looks like AOL made it. omg where my startmenu. and how the hell do I shut this thing down. why do words look blurry. why doesnt my game run fast. why why.....

windows 8.1 why the hell is my mouse lagging now.......... :bang:

fact is windows 7 is great in everyday peoples eyes. and they dont see reason to upgrade.

My mouse is not lagging...

Yes, no reason to upgrade - but since new PCs come with Windows 8, one would expect there to be a lot of sales from that alone.

Windows 7 being as good as it is and hardware being more than capable of servicing the common consumer's needs don't help 8. Then there are the smartphones, phablets, and tablets. The foolish design choices are another matter :P
