Windows 8 boot process goes Metro-style

Microsoft created a video that shows off the new boot process of Windows 8. It's basically out with the legacy DOS stuff, on UEFI systems the software giant intends to give manufacturers the ability to show their logo and stay on that splash screen all the way from POST to Windows logon UI. Additionally, Microsoft also created a new interface for dual-booting, trouble-shooting and booting to a device.

The Windows 8 boot experience will reflect the personality of Windows; it will be fast and fluid, seamless, and beautiful every time. By leveraging the capabilities of UEFI and working together with the ecosystem, our goal is for the PC to power up to the manufacturer
