Microsoft has issued KB5007262, a new cumulative update for Windows 11 that contains a huge number of bug fixes. The update is available now. Among these are fixes for issues such as File Explorer not working properly, as well as a feature that returns the blue screen of death (BSOD) to its original color of blue rather than black.

Emoji 13.1 adds support for a larger number of emojis to the Windows emoji menu, as well as improved compatibility. As part of the Windows 11 release, Microsoft has also updated its Windows 10 virtual machine development kit, which now provides a set of tools for developing and testing applications under Windows 11.

The improvements to the file explorer, in particular, are considerable. It resolves issues that prevent File Explorer from presenting itself, as well as one that causes File Explorer to stop working after you shut the application. Another fix addresses difficulties with context menus that have been reported. There is now a workaround for NFS if you rename a file from an NFS share through File Explorer, which was previously an issue (but not the command line).

On top of that, speed optimizations and fixes have been implemented to the taskbar, including fixes for icon flickering when the mouse cursor is hovered over taskbar icons and performance improvements for icon animation.

Updated to version 13.1 of the emoji, which includes a switch from the Segoe UI Emoji typeface to the new Fluent 2D emoji style, which was inspired by the Windows 11 interface. 13.1 also includes a new emoji dictionary, which now allows users to search for emojis in all of the languages that are currently supported.

Some of the bug fixes and upgrades that are included with KB5007262 are listed in the following table. Check out Microsoft's official blog article for a comprehensive list of all of the updates. It is currently available as an optional upgrade for all Windows 11 users, and it is recommended that you do so.
