Gigabyte should have released a firmware update for the black to white back plastic cover change.
I'm joking!

Your the joke! Downloaded the firmware update just now - I can here a bit of tinkering going on and a pssssssssssssssssssss! Oh that must be the spray :p
Seriously! I have had no trouble with Gigabyte, normally my choice of manufacture, being there RMA for UK was or still is better than others. Still not saying they have had a 100% record, and if i got secondhand card after a new one failed, i would shop elsewhere.' Did you hear me Giga ? '

It's what users are reporting in GB's forums and elsewhere.
The affected cards are all Nvidia Windoforce based models from GTX 10xx series and RTX series.
They stated some hardware limitations for the fans rattling noises due to their suddenly ramp up from 0% to 40% speed or smth like this.
Don't know if GB fixed it but it seemed like a hardware limitation or "defect" from their response.
I like clean and simple cards and these GB white cards are perfect from me only if they didn't have the fan issues.
I had an HD7950 Windforce x3, but I seriously don't recall any suspicious or annoying event. Think and thought that card became much better with time, much better drivers since first gen GCN cards. For instance, at the beginning I could barely keep 50-55FPS on Battlefield 3 but after 2 months, same settings ( High ) always VSynced without any problem. Nostalgia since that was and is my only AMD card.
