WD Red SN700-NVMe SSDs has capacities to 4TB for NAS and up to 5,100 TBW

The WD Red SN700 is the first of a series of PCIe 3.0 x4 SSDs designed for use in network-attached storage (NAS) systems from Western Digital. The M.2 SSDs are available in capacities ranging from 250GB to 500GB, as well as 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB. As stated by the manufacturer, they are appropriate for long-term use.

The WD Red SN700 SSDs are equipped with TLC NAND memory and a controller that has not been revealed. According to WD, sequential read and write rates can reach 3430MB/s and 3100MB/s, respectively. Serial write speed is limited to 1600MB/s with the 250GB version due to the size of the disk. No dram buffer is known to be present on the ssds, which means that they all use the SLC cache as their primary cache. The specifications appear to be nearly identical to those of the 2019 WD Black SN750 SSDs, however the idle consumption has been tuned down and the stated endurance has been increased. As a result, SSDs should be acceptable for long-term use in network-attached storage systems.

  • 250GB direct sales price $ 64.99
  • 500GB direct sales price $ 79.99
  • 1TB direct sales price $ 144.99
  • 2TB direct sales price $ 289.99
  • 4TB direct sales price $ 649.99

WD does not list recommended prices on its Dutch website, but in the United States the versions of 250GB, 500GB, 1TB, 2TB and 4TB are on the site for 65, 80, 145, 290 and 650 dollars respectively.

and you can fit like 20 on a 4 bay sized NAS

drives have shrunk from 3.5" to 2.5" to long sdcard size now, I wonder when we start going back to bigger drives because octacell nand didnt pan out :P
