WD My Passport X offers 2 TB for Xbox One and PC Gamers
WD introduced the My Passport X portable hard drive for gamers. When connected to Xbox One or a PC, the sleek 2 TB My Passport X drive provides much-needed storage capacity for gamers to store up to 50 extra game titles, eliminating the need to delete previously purchased games from their Xbox One or PC hard drives and removing those "storage full" warning messages while allowing players to get back to their games.
In addition to added storage, gamers can use My Passport X to take saved games to use on friends' systems2 without having to download.
"Game file sizes are expanding to 36 GB per game and upwards, and are projected to continue growing," said Tony Tate, vice president and general manager of WD's Content Solutions unit. "Console gamers are able to store on average only 10 games on the 365 GB out of 500 GB that is available on the onboard hard drive. I took apart one of WD's other Passport hdds wonting to do the same thing for my pc, and found that the usb 3.0 controller/socket is actually on the main hdd pcb instead of a separate plug-in board
Even though it says for PC and Xbox ONE I don't see a reason why I couldn't rip it out of the case and fit it into my PS4. But i do understand that obviously having a plug & play storage drive is a bit more beneficial than doing the above

Interesting enough, Western Digital's website makes no mention of the drive's speed or specs--this could very well be yet another average consumer product with the 'Gaming' label slapped on it and a premium price tag. Given the drive is 5400RPM, there's no reason why I can't use my run of the mill USB 3.0 external drive that I got for $40 less. And from that standpoint--there's nothing stopping me from throwing in a 7200RPM drive, or even an SSHD, into a USB 3.0 external enclosure and calling it a day.
Consumers are stupid, and 'snake-oil' has become that much more sophisticated.

At first I was quite interested in the product, especially with that case to match my x1. However, after reading the wd website product promo they were boating about reliability and put up a giant badge claiming a 1 year warranty as if that was somehow...sufficient, or even good.

X1 already has 500gb.... just put a 256gb SSD in there like I did & enjoy the load times. 756gb is more than enough for game titles.
I have all the best games and I'm still only at 45% used space.
