Warner Bros Talks Batman Arkham Knights First patch PC
Warner Bros have been talking about the pending patch for the PC platform, after the release debacle. Below the fold fixes and details of the patch.
The new patch will be ready in a few weeks. So these will be the patch fixes:
- Reduced frame rate hitches
- Optimized system memory and VRAM usage
- Improved performance on all GPUs (requires the latest drivers)
- Min Spec AMD GPU is once again the Radeon HD 7870 2GB
- More Robust In-Game Settings, including:
- Added the ability to change settings for Max FPS to 30/60/90
- Added toggles for Motion Blur, Chromatic Aberration, and Film Grain
- Added a “High” Texture Resolution value
- Added Texture Filtering option
- Added an Adaptive V-Sync option (NVIDIA only)
- Added VRAM Usage Meter
- Added Mouse Sensitivity Slider & Mouse Smoothing Option
- Fixed low resolution texture bugs
- Fixed hitches when running on mechanical hard drives (HDD)
Lets hope that the majority of issues now is tackled, and a lesson has been learned for the future.

..about 90 fps..I use too a 144Hz monitor..but why some whining about it? How the heck do you think that are you going to be able to run it more than 90fps..? Oh,what, maybe looking at sky with almost none texture and other stuff rendered ?
Get reasonable, we saw how the game is and how it runs (till now), don't assume that the patch is a miracle and you'll get 1000 fps...
The 30/60/90 has to do with streaming and synching.
Yes it would be great a 30/60/90/120 but still...
Maybe some people like 144Hz and can achieve this turning off post processing effects which add nothing to the game.
I'd rather have high frame than graphical niceness - and I typically run the highest post-processing possible and start turning stuff off until I hit the frame-rate I believe is suitable for the game.
Witcher3 - 45
BF3 - 60
UT4 - infinity

Not to mention the fact that GPU's advance every year so while most people wouldn't be able to hit even close to 90fps at this point what about in a year or so when the next wave of cards are released Pascal etc, to lock the frame rate at 90 ultimately limits potential performance.

Contrary to the headlie, this isn't the first patch for Arkham Knight. There was another one before that improved things slightly, and another undocumented one that Steam installed for some reason.
Also, one could argue that the PC version of Mortal Kombat X even had a worse launch than Arkham Knight, since many couldn't play the game at all for days after it was released due to missing files, etc.. and it took a couple of months to fix most bugs and bring the game mostly up to par with the console version feature-wise (it still isn't completely). At least Arkham Knight was "playable" for some, although it was in a bad condition nonetheless. Both are horrible console ports which WB Games arrogantly assigned to be ported to the PC in a minimal amount of time that wasn't nearly enough for a clean port by completely overwhelmed third party studios that simply aren't up to the task.

They should've implemented the frame rate limit the same way as Witcher 3: 30, 60 and unlimited.
Having a limit of 90 fps doesn't make much sense for 144hz with VSync activated since you're in 24hz increments you'll end up falling back to 72 fps since you can't get to 96 fps.
