ViewSonic offers New VA gaming monitors at 165 Hz in Full HD or WQHD

ViewSonic offers New VA gaming monitors at 165 Hz in Full HD or WQHD

ViewSonic launched two new gaming displayes that differ primarily in terms of resolution and each use VA panel technology. Both VX2718-PC-MHD (1920 x 1080 pixels, Full HD) and VX2718-2KPC-MHD (2560 x 1440 pixels, WQHD) have a 1500 R curvature, a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz and a contrast ratio of 4000:1.

The 27-inchers offer Adaptive Sync against screen tearing in games, which is most likely equipped with LFC ("Low Framerate Compensation") and thus also works below the regular sync range. The response time is only 1 ms MPRT ("Moving Picture Response Time"), which says nothing about the actual gray change. The ergonomic features include inclination, VESA mount (75 x 75 mm), blue light filtering and a flicker-free backlight. The interface range of the innovations includes two HDMI inputs each (V1.4 for the VX2718-PC-MHD, V2.0 for the VX2718-2KPC-MHD), a DisplayPort and a headphone output. There is no USB interface. The monitors have two internal 2 watt speakers and weigh 3.3 kg each without a stand. The dimensions are 611 x 363 x 75 mm (W x D). To date, there is only more detailed information about the power requirement for the Full HD version: Depending on the operating mode, it allows between 15 and 27 watts. The WQHD variant shouldn't deviate too much from it.

Whether, when and at what price the optically identical ViewSonic displays VX2718-PC-MHD and VX2718-2KPC-MHD will be released on the market is still uncertain According to the data sheets, there is also 8 bit color depth (6 bit + FRC ), 250 cd / m² luminance and 102 percent sRGB.

Explain the curvature then...on a 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio... I have very expensive VA panels to look at, their angles, compared to IPS, are really bad. Looking at them within the range where there is no distortion (a bit more than on TN) image is good. Curve helps a bit with the angles, the bigger the curvature, the worse the panel's angles. Then again, if you get a 65" UHD and sit 2m from it, you will have zero problems with v. angles....

I don't hate regular good VAs tho. Just curved trash.
