ViewSonic is launching their latest 10-point multi-touch LCD monitor, the TD2240. Adopting a VA panel, this new 22-inch LED-backlight monitor supports a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and provides 3000:1 contrast ratio, 200 cd/m2 brightness, 25ms response time and 178/178 degree viewing angles.

It also comes with two built-in 2W speakers and has D-Sub, HDMI/MHL, DisplayPort and 5x USB 3.0 connectors. The TD2240 is available now for $449.

WALNUT, Calif – February 12, 2014 – ViewSonic Corp., a leading global provider of computing, consumer electronics and communications solutions, today launched its next-generation 10-point multi-touch 22” display. The new TD2240 provides a best-in-class multi-touch experience for consumers with projected capacitive touch technology, seamless integration with Windows® 8 and an ergonomic dual-hinge stand, all at a competitive cost.

The display delivers consumers and business users smooth gesture control on its flat touch screen and a responsive touch experience with a variety of Windows 8 applications for home entertainment, office work, education and commercial use. Featuring projected capacitive touch technology, the TD2240 is highly resistant to screen contamination and delivers greater accuracy and responsiveness. The display also features full HD 1920×1080 resolution and an MHL-enabled HDMI port, allowing consumers to display multimedia content from smartphones or tablets with stunning image and picture quality.

“Today’s consumers are increasingly mobile-savvy and demand the same touch experience of their mobile devices on the desktop,” said Kenneth Mau, Product Marketing Manager, ViewSonic. “The TD2240 delivers an industry-leading touch experience with its intuitive touch technology and full feature set. Whether consumers are looking for a rich, intuitive interface or commercial environments requiring seamless integration with Windows systems, this display is equipped to meet the consumer demand for touch technology beyond mobile devices.”

Here's their page on it:
http://www.viewsonic.com/us/td2240.html

What does anyone make of it though? I like 22 inch monitors and I like Viewsonics so I'm considering it. But I wonder if it's touch abilities would be used much on a desktop PC while also wondering how decent the rest of the specs are. Obviously this is no 120hz gaming built sort of monitor, but neither are any of my others.

I don't personaly know about this monitor...but I can tell you that we have touch screens at work and I hate them lol the smaller touchscreen the better but still..imo the touchscreen will fade out unless its improved a lot...most surfaces right now havto be cleaned a lot..ALOT or it gets yucky which is a given but it becomes a pain ater a short use just to drag your finger etc.

Also the environment it sits in makes a huge difference such a colder cliemt etc makes for easier use of the touchscreen.

Overall I enjoy 1440p lps/ips much more than any touch

YEP. I can't believe I wasn't even thinking about that when I posted above. The android phone and 3ds I have I practically bathe in rubbing alcohol daily. I even remember growing up I'd drive my dad bat**** for touching the monitor as a kid- and now it drives me nuts.

I guess I was just curious as to if the monitors now are on par with the tablets and whatnot while also being decent monitors, but I'd think I rather just pick up something that just looks good instead.
