VBIOS modded to 1000W for GeForce RTX 3090 Hall Of Fame (HOF) Edition did not yield much

It was a very brave attempt, unfortunately, it did not yield a lot. A Chinese YT channel who's name I cannot pronounce (二斤自制) grabbed a very expensive GALAX GeForce RTX 3090 Hall Of Fame (HOF) Edition and modified the vBIOS to allow a power boost of an insane 1000 Watts for the GPU.

The GeForce RTX 3090 Hall Of Fame (HOF) Edition with its 12 layer PCB, 26 phase VRM power, and three 8-pin power connectors at defaults 420Watts available (which already is a silly value of course). Btw they used good components incl a AMD Ryzen 5900X system which was equipped with a powerful Corsair AX1500i power supply, HOF DDR4-4400 MHz memory, and also HOF 2TB PCI Gen4 storage (which makes me presume this was a GALAX sponsored article).

The default GPU clock is 1845 MHz and at these values, the card sits just under  70 degrees Celsius. With a 1000 Watt vBIOS was the GPU core has managed only 2000 MHz and at that point, it did actually consume ~630 W of power. However, other limiters and protections obviously will kick in with that default cooler. Mex GPU tempo was configured to allow 96 Degrees C, which it did.

The fruits of all that hard work and risk, was a performance gain of roughly 3%, much like any other regular overclock. Very reasonable is that the card just overheated, which kinda makes sense.  Thumb up for the effort though!
