We review USB 3.1 today alongside a RAID0 SSD based storage unit that is USB 3.1 compatible. With USB 3.0 performance is amazing at roughly 450 MB/s. With USB 3.1 we can reach speeds of an excess of 800 MB/s or even better over USB 3.1, and in this article we'll show you all the details involved, and some performance numbers as well of course.

Like the connector, if only it was flippable and somehow backwards compatible with usb mini (in a not flippable form).

So basically it's similar to what Apple use for charging IPhones/iPads, as that can be flipped 180 so there's no wrong way to put it in.

everyone is mesmerized by seq speeds to notice really mediocre random speeds. 2 840 EVOs running in raid0 (!!!) and AS SSD Bench score is only 520. my single 840 EVO on sata3 has AS SSD score of over a thousand.

Can you add any IOPS tests? I'm less concerned about maximum bandwidth and more about how much overhead the bus adds. How do the speeds/latency compare with SATA3?

Looks really good, but you know what, apart from the flippable connector my absolute favorite feature is the extra power handling. Even over the speed (almost).
Simply it means no more power bricks for so many hungrier USB devices / bigger HDD enclosures etc ^^
