So yeah that's not an actual upgrade. Users who wish to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 11 will be able to do so only through a clean install. The upgrade will be free, but it will not contain documents or installed apps.

The information became clear from a Lenovo FAQ regarding the new operating system, this is stated. It is based on Microsoft's own information. To update to Windows 11, it specifies that "hardware-compliant devices" must undergo a clean install or reinstall.

It solely applies to Windows 7, and it makes no mention of devices running Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. Windows 11 will be a free update for existing Windows 10 devices. Users may easily update to the latest operating system while keeping their papers and current apps. Microsoft has stated that applications designed for Windows 7 will run on Windows 11.
