Unreal Engine4 now free for download
Epic made Unreal Engine 4 available for anyone to download and use, for free. The download features the the full set of tool and includes 100% of the C++ source code. Future updates will also be added at no extra cost.
The Unreal Engine download gives developers access to development forums, wiki, and a marketplace where they can purchase, or sell their work, for other developers to use. In addition, video tutorials, documentation, and game templates will also come with the download.
“The past year has been a whirlwind for everyone at Epic Games. Our community has grown tremendously. The quality and variety of creative work being done has been breathtaking. When we asked people to submit their projects to be shown this year at GDC, we had the challenge of picking just 8 from over 100 finalists that were all good enough to show,” said Epic Games founder and CEO Tim Sweeney.
“The state of Unreal is strong, and we’ve realized that as we take away barriers, more people are able to fulfil their creative visions and shape the future of the medium we love. That’s why we’re taking away the last barrier to entry, and going free.”
Epic will be issuing pro-rated refunds to current subscribers for the payment of their most recent month. A $30 Unreal Engine Marketplace credit will also be sent to anyone who has ever paid for a subscription.
Here’s Sweeney announcing the new scheme.

Unity Pro is still cheaper for professionals, $75 a month and that's it. But IMO UE4 is superior in terms of workflow and stuff. Pretty cool that I get $30 back too.

Well, so the AI Tutorials that I watched may actually be useful. Not that I delved that deep, but the thing can get complex.

Might depend on what kind of revenue you get out of it, 75$ a month for Unity with no other costs or UE4 with no costs at all now for nearly everyone but a 5% royalty fee.
(Earlier I think it was 20$ a month with the same percentage royalty fee.)
There's CryEngine EaaS as well which is a slightly simpler version of the full deal for 10$ a month and also some fee on royalties I believe.
(UE4 is clearly a better deal now without the subscription and you get a lot of other things such as the full source code and access to their very active community and the marketplace.)
EDIT: Speaking of Cry-Engine and their "Engine-as-a-Service" (EaaS) program I wonder what they will do now when UE4 from how it looks now offers a much better deal.
EDIT: Or maybe I just can't do math at all evidently.

That really is awesome!!!!
We may see some great stuff come from this.
Personally I have liked alot of games built on unreal engine.
I never really had a complaint about unreal 3 until I got eyefinity and unreal has very bad fov issues with triple monitors.
